I want to switch to graphite electrodes. No experience.

Our CEO has set a task to increase productivity. I started studying and came to the conclusion that graphite is needed. Here in Russia I don't find positive reviews. In fact, it turns out that people do not comply with accepted technologies. Milling without dust removal, graphite of the "Soviet, good" brand (as a rule for the manufacture of molds or brushes), no one dries it, no one can say anything specific about the processing modes either.

I suggested the technology that is used in the West. I see that there is a great and positive experience if everything is followed. But I can't convince the CEO yet. He consults with other, experienced EDM machinists, but I know what they are telling him - see the paragraph above.

I want to ask you if everything is really as described by graphite manufacturers? I would like to hear the opinion of those who are interested in working with graphite, and not in selling it.

E1E Pyrolytic Graphite Electrodes

TEMPERATURE RANGE: 10°C - 25°C — Electrode damage may occur at temperatures outside this recommended range.

The company is the world’s best Super High Power Graphite Electrode supplier. We are your one-stop shop for all needs. Our staff are highly-specialized and will help you find the product you need.

  • Pyrolytic Graphite Disk OD: ~3.8 mm
  • Encapsulating Epoxy OD: 5.0 mm
  • PTFE Shroud OD: 12.0 mm
  • Overall Length: 152 mm
  • Standard Banana Connector
  • Mounting Adapter for 14/20 Port (included)
  • Compatible with many Pine Standard Volume Cells

These E1E Series pyrolytic graphite electrodes are available in both the "edge plane" and "basal plane" orientations. The disk material (encapsulated with a small layer of epoxy) is mounted inside of a PTFE shroud located at the end of a stainless steel shaft. The PTFE shroud is quite chemically resistant, but the epoxy material is compatible only with aqueous electrolyte solutions. The electrode is polished to a mirror finish, serialized, and then factory tested (test results are shipped with each electrode). The standard banana jack on the end of the electrode is compatible with most potentiostat cell cable designs.
