A variety of shop tools can be used, depending on the amount (lineal feet) of grating to be cut. To prevent shifting, make sure panels are firmly secured. Turning the panel bottom-side up will allow the saw to ride on a smoother surface which will reduce chipping. To cut curves or angles you can use a reciprocating saw or a jig saw.Again, using a masonry, carbide or diamond coated blade.Note: Make sure you allow 3/16 for the blade kerf when measuring.Once cut, all edges should be ground smooth. Use an open coated, coarse gritted, resin fiber grinding disc.After cutting and grinding FPR products, should be re-sealed to prevent the corrosion of glass fibers. A comparable resin used in the manufacturing process should be applied to maintain corrosion resistance.A minimum of 1 ½ support needs to be provided around all panel bearing edges. Use two (2) M Style stainless steel clips (type 316) every 48 (maximum). A minimum of four (4) clips are required for any piece of fiberglass grating.Work in a well ventilated and brightly lit area. Wear safety goggles for eye protection and a dust mask (with a proper fiberglass filter) to reduce inhalation. Gloves and a shop coat, with neck and sleeves taped, are also recommended to prevent skin irritations. Using a fan also helps to direct dust away from you.
