Wheel bearing cause axle seal leak?

Can a bad wheel bearing lead to a leaky axle seal in the front? I've heard it can cause rear axle seal leaks, but I'm not sure about the front.

Recently, I replaced the front axle seal when I did the ECGS bushing, but the new seal is leaking just like the old one. It's barely leaking, not even dripping onto the ground, just a small amount of gear oil coming down the differential.

The wheel bearing isn't in terrible condition but has been deteriorating for a while. Now that I think of it, the wheel bearing and the leak started around the same time (before I replaced the axle seal and did the ECGS bushing). Should I replace the axle seal again when I replace the wheel bearing this weekend, or could the new wheel bearing potentially stop the leak?

Wheel seal leaking again and again and again

I will certainly check the breather again. Last time, all I saw was a screwed-in fitting and a hole with a bent rubber tube attached to it. Is there more to the breather than just a hole?

I presume the shop checked it too. They paid for the seals, sleeves, and labor the last time. Could it be because they are not competent? They change seals on big trucks, so they should know how to do it by now.

What baffles me is that it always leaks on both sides. I could understand if one side leaks due to runout or wear on one shaft, but both wheels?

It was not leaking before the first replacement of the seals a year ago. The last seal installed was a W20HH100 from Spicer. The seal says it is a CR35000.

What is the part number for a unitized seal?

On the bold point - that would make me scrutinize the vent. Since pressure is equal in all directions, a plugged vent, resulting in pressure build-up, should cause both seals to leak.

The axle runout idea was a last-ditch attempt to identify the cause. It's just a seal, after all. There are billions of seals installed in everything from vacuum cleaners to large trucks, functioning every day. The reason for your issue, especially after numerous repair attempts, remains a mystery.

With leaking on both sides, it seems the vent might be the only thing in the entire system causing them both to leak simultaneously.
